Progress in Nano-Engineered Anodic Aluminum Oxide Membrane Development

Abstract: Abstract:The anodization of aluminum is an electro-chemical process that changes the surface chemistry of the metal, via oxidation, to produce an anodic oxide layer. During this process a self organized, highly ordered array of cylindrical shaped pores can be produced with controllable pore diameters, periodicity and density distribution. This enables anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes to be used as templates in a variety of nanotechnology applications without the need for expensive lithographical technique… Show more

“…The peaks at 2h values 30°, 33°, 44°, 53°, and 63°are the characteristics peaks of anodized alumina [26]. There is no broad peak centered at 25°, which shows that there is no amorphous alumina since such broad peak indicates that synthesized layer is highly disordered [27]. Accordingly, we may say that alumina is properly anodized.…”

“…Можна також не від-діляти клітини від мембрани, а розміщувати імплантат мембраною назовні. Алюмінієва підкладка не заважає обміну речовин між повітрям і тканиною, проте захищає рану від проникнення мікроорганізмів [24].…”

“…This step was necessary to selectively remove the first oxide layer and expose a highly periodic and indented landscape covering the surface of the Al substrate. These indentations form the initiation sites for the subsequent formation of pores in the second anodization step [1,4,29]. The second anodization is performed under the same conditions as the first step, except the second step the anodization period is 3 hours.…”

“…Porous aluminium oxide membranes derived from the electrochemical process of anodization of aluminium metal has been studied in detail in a variety of polyprotic acids or electrolytes, temperatures and anodization voltages for more than sixty years [1]. Using the conventional anodization process in polyprotic acids (e.g., oxalic, phosphoric or sulphuric acid) a nano-porous oxide layer can be formed over the metal surface.…”
