In Canada, the need for development of virtual simulation for distributed postgraduate medical education has been recognized by the Future of Medical Education in Canada Postgraduate Project (Bates, Frost, Schrewe, Jamieson, & Ellaway, 2011) as well as a more general need for development of distance technology by the Rural Road Map for Action (Wilson & Oandasan, 2020).
