“…In RGS, between 2008 and 2009, YFV circulation covered a radius of some 500 km within 6 months, resulting in YF affecting NHP in 67 municipalities, including 21 human cases of YF, reaching areas less than 50 km from the capital. This expansion (around 100 km/month) is faster than that reported from Central America during the 1950s, when the velocity of the epizootic wave was near 21 km/month [Elton, 1952]. We observed a west–east transmission, but additional studies on how the progress of YFV occurred through forested areas are needed in order to better understand the spread of YFV.…”
