Proof-Theoretic and Higher-Order Extensions of Logic Programming

We review the Italian contribution to proof-theoretic and higher-order extensions of logic programming; this originated from the realization that Horn clauses lacked standard abstraction mechanisms such as higher-order programming, scoping constructs and forms of information hiding.
