Propagation of S-waves in a non-homogeneous anisotropic incompressible and initially stressed medium

Abstract: In this paper we have studied the propagation of shear waves in a non-homogeneous anisotropic incompressible and initially stressed medium. Analytical analysis reveals that the velocities of the shear waves depend upon the direction of propagation, the anisotropy, the non-homogeneity of the medium and the initial stress. Numerical computation shows that the presence of initial compressive stress in the medium reduces the velocity of propagation whereas, the tensile stress increases it. It is found that the var… Show more

“…7 Furthermore, nano-sized gold particles were employed for artistic purposes in the stained glasses of cathedrals and castles. 8 Some historic examples include the use of metal nanoparticles in the Notre Dame Cathedral, 9 the use of Au-Ag alloyed nanoparticles in the Lycurgus cup of the Romans, 10 and in steel swords by the Damascans and Romans. 11,12 The first scientific report on nanomaterial production came from Michael Faraday, in which a colloidal solution of gold nanoparticles was produced and called activated gold.…”

“…Many authors have assumed different forms of irregularities at the interface for the study of propagation of waves. Gupta et al developed the propagation of S‐waves in a inhomogeneous anisotropic incompressible and initially stressed medium. Ahmed and Abd‐Dahab studied the propagation of Love waves in an orthotropic Granular layer under initial stress overlying a semi‐infinite Granular medium.…”
