Properties of Poly(4-hyderoxybenzoate) Oligomer and its Blends with Poly(trimethylene Terephthalate)

Abstract: The poly(4-hydroxybenzoate) (PHBA) oligomer was synthesized by using the monomer of 4-acetoxybenzoic acid (PABA), and its blends with poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) are prepared by melt-blending at 250oC in nitrogen. Their chemical structure characterization and crystal morphology were investigated by using the fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (1HNMR), and polarizing optical microscopy, respectively. The results suggest that PHBA oligomer with 3 polymerization … Show more

“…The assignments of the chemical shifts for the carboxylic acid end groups (EGs) of DodA, PhlA, and SyrA could be verified using a few available literature references and additional spectroscopic data. The spectra of these tetrapolyesters were compared to those of the free acids and the acetylated forms of each of the three monomers.…”

“…22 The newly synthesized poly(4-hydroxybenzoate) (PHBA) oligomer is a thermotropic liquid crystal with the nematic characteristics. 23 Some interesting papers have been published concerning the thermotropic behaviour of lipid mixtures. The binary systems of N-hexadecanoyl-D-erythro-ceramide (C16-ceramide) or N-hexadecanoyl-D-erythro-ceramide-1-phosphate (C16-ceramide-1-phosphate; C16-C1P) with 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) were studied with DSC and 2 H-NMR.…”
