Properties of Random Lasers in a hollow core photonic crystal fiber

Abstract: We investigate the properties of random lasers based on light guiding and scattering in a hollow core photonic crystal fiber. We develop air-filled and filled cladding for different fiber core diameters of photonic crystal fibers. The fiber cores are filled with various concentrations of alumina nanoparticles (~50 nm) and Rhodamine 6G in ethylene glycol solution. The effects of light guiding and scattering were studied in terms of filled and air-filled cladding, different fiber core diameters and scattering re… Show more

“…Thus, water quality is an important element to assist the growth of crops. Many methods have been adopted such as using spectroscopy [4,5], optics, and laser sensing [6,7], Arduino [8], Internet of Things (IoT) and real time monitoring [9][10][11], multi-sensor array [12], and cyber physical systems [13][14][15]. Reviews on water quality monitoring methods have been done recently involving electronics and optical sensing [16,17].…”

“…Physical variables such as particle size, shape, suspended solid concentration (SSC), composition, and chemical properties affect light transmission through water samples. Examples of known optical sensors are the charge-coupled device (CCD) linear sensor, phototransistor, optical biosensor, fluorescence sensor, lasers, and others [ 70 , 71 , 72 , 73 , 74 , 75 ]. Apart from that, another optical fiber sensor was designed based on the principle of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) to monitor the interaction of biological molecules in real time without the need for labeling, separation, and purification [ 73 ].…”

“…Random lasing with a narrow emission linewidth, ~3 nm can be observed. Most previous studies on random lasers for weakly scattering regime used Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) [3][4][5]18,19] instead of Rhodamine 640 (Rh640) due to higher absorption of excitation light at 530 nm. Here, we prove that random lasing can be realized in Rh640 solution using rough silver-gold bimetallic nanoparticles in weakly scattering regime.…”
