“…The clinical relevance of this anastomotic system is based on the fact that since these vessels arise from the internal pudendal artery, endovascular haemostasis is not possible through ligation or other methods of closure of the uterine arteries or the anterior divisions of the iliac internal artery, and it may partially explain why embolisation techniques fail in a small proportion of cases.
