The crystal structure of TMA + . TCNQ 2/3-. (I~)~/a at 80 K has been determined from neutron diffraction measurements on single crystals. The lattice is monoclinic, space group C2/m, with Z = 4, a = 20.177 (3), b = 6.359 (3), c= 13.679 (5) A, fl= 114.37 (3) °, v= 1599/k a, d~, = 1.626 Mg m -3. The structure at 80 K (R = 0.043) is very similar to the structures at higher temperatures while several physical properties of this compound show anomalies at 150 and 89 K. The charge transfer calculated from bond-length considerations is 0.75 (10) e.
