Prospective Directions of Graine Processing Development in Ukraine

Abstract

Introduction. Ukraine is one of the world's largest exporters of grain crops. At the same time, in terms of export of grain processing products, Ukraine was significantly inferior to other countries. Thus, Ukraine has a great potential for increasing the export of processing products, which needs to be more fully realized.The purpose of the article was to analyze the changes that took place in the domestic and world markets after the start of armed aggression and to determine promising directions for the development of grain processing in Ukraine in the post-war period.Materials and methods. The following methods were used during the research: statistical, comparison, monographic, analysis and synthesis, system approach. The data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the UN Comtrade Database, the data of the project "Socio-political dialogue in grain sector of Ukraine", information resources of the Internet were involved.Results and discussion. In Ukraine, projects on deep processing of grain crops are promising for big business. For corn, this is the production of sugar substitutes, bioethanol, starch, compound feed, for wheat, it is the production of specialized proteins (gluten, glutenin, gliadin). Analysis of the current state of the world market of sugar substitutes and native (natural) starch indicates their great export potential. This also applies to the world market of amino acids (lysine, threonine, methionine, tryptophan), which is the most dynamic sector of the world market of feed for domestic animals and poultry.Conclusions.Grain processing in Ukraine has great untapped potential. Ukraine ranks among leaders in the export of grain crops, while in terms of the volume of exports of grain processing products, it is significantly inferior to many countries. Promising areas of grain processing in Ukraine are: for corn -sugar substitutes, bioethanol, starch, compound feed; for wheat -specialized proteins (gluten, glutenin, gliadin); for soybeans-vegetable protein substitutes. Today, these products are in great demand on the world market.
