“…IS is related to sustainable development and CE. This result is in line with other studies (Feiferytė-Skirienė and Stasiškienė, 2021; Jato-Espino and Ruiz-Puente, 2020; Karayılan et al, 2021; Marinelli et al, 2021; Patala et al, 2020). In the network of researchers, the highlight is the author from UFRJ, Alessandra Magrini.…”

“…This is the best alternative way of transitioning from the traditional linear waste flow economy [37,38] towards the CE [39]. Therefore, the current linear model and the partial recycling of managing waste in some SSA countries needs to move towards material circularity, which will ensure the sustainable growth of the economy through optimization of resources, reduction of raw material consumption and recovering waste materials through recycling for second life [40][41][42], moving from the linear economy model built on a take-make-consume-throw-away pattern, as illustrated by Soysa [43]. In this way, waste materials could be managed more efficiently in a CE by reusing items and resources, while encouraging the use of renewable resources through sustainable ecological practices.…”

“…The barriers reported were lack of capital, government support, lack of information, lack of technical and technological know-how, and company environmental culture [72]. The impact of three circular economy models in Europe was explored on the European plastic packaging value chain, covering circular economy strategies as cross-sectoral valorization of plastic wastes, recycling efficiency of wastes, and new bio-based biodegradable plastic products [73]. Finally, a self-assessment readiness tool was established called MATChE (MAking the Transition to a Circular Economy) [74].…”
