“…As a delivery system, adenovirus vector has multiple advantages [17]: (1) ease of genetic manipulation, (2) high transduction efficiency into nondividing cells, (3) ease of high titer production, (4) copious gene expression in vitro, and (5) storage stability. Our previous work established that Ad-decorin can induce a high expression of decorin in glomerular mesangial cells in vitro [15].…”

“…Currently, transurethral prostatectomy is accepted as the gold standard for surgical intervention. However, for those patients at high operative risk or those unsuitable for surgery, various minimally invasive treatment modalities have emerged, including laser therapy, cryoablation, and intraprostatic injection of ethanol (5)(6)(7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12). However, the results of these new modalities are not superior to those of transurethral prostatectomy, and they have their own limitations.…”

“…The first report of intraprostatic injection is attributed to Stoll in 1877 for the treatment of a prostatic abscess [39]. Since then, many reports have been published, mainly for the treatment of BPH in high-risk surgical candidates.…”
