Protective effects of hesperetin on lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury in a rat model

Abstract: ÖZAmaç: Bu deneysel çalışmada, doğal bir flavonoid olan hesperetinin sıçanlarda lipopolisakkarit uyarımlı akut akciğer hasar modeli üzerindeki etkileri incelendi. Ça lış m a pl a nı:Mart 2019 -Mayıs 2019 tarihleri arasında ağırlıkları yaklaşık 250-300 g olan toplam 18 erişkin erkek Wistar albino sıçan, kontrol, lipopolisakkarit ve lipopolisakkarit + hesperetin grubu olmak üzere rastgele üç gruba ayrıldı (her grupta n= 6). Akciğer dokusunda ıslak/kuru ağırlık oranı belirlendi. Histopatolojik değişiklikler ışık … Show more

“…Free radicals are molecules that are extremely reactive and have the potential to induce the injury into the cells and tissues in the body 4,5 . This can lead to inflammation, which is a response by the body's immune system to try to remove the damaging agents and repair the damaged tissue 5,34 .…”

“…ALI is a clinical condition that is characterized by inflammation in the lung tissues and it is consider as the common cause of lung dysfunction. It is identified by inflammation and the build‐up of fluids in the lungs, which can hinder the efficient transfer of oxygen from the air to the blood 3–5 . This alteration can cause the difficulty in the breathing and also exhibit the low oxygen level in the blood (hypoxemia).…”

“…Yeh et al, 2007). Its aglycone part, namely hesperitin, is reported to inhibit TNF‐α, IL‐1β, and IL‐6 significantly by hindering multiple pathways like JNK, NF‐κB, and MAPK based on the in vitro (Choi & Lee, 2010; Ren et al, 2016) and in vivo investigations (Kaya, 2020; J. Ye et al, 2019). In a clinical study involving human adults, hesperidin exhibited a significant reduction of IL‐6 level at an oral dose of 160 mg/day (Buscemi et al, 2012; Pla‐Pagà et al, 2019).…”
