Abstract:The interaction of free-bases and Zn(II) complexes of meso-tetraphenylporphyrin, and its β-functionalized derivatives with photogenerators of acidity (PGAs, hexachloroethane or tribromoethanol) has been studied in toluene and also embedded in polymer films. The free-bases undergo fast reversible protonation during the irradiation procedure. The photoprotonation of free-bases by PGAs is accompanied by the fluorescence decay of each porphyrin substrate. The relative rates of such photoprotonation of free-base po… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
