Prototype tests on a 200 watt forced convection liquid hydrogen/deuterium target

Abstract: A forced convection target system Is being developed for use at 'ne Clinton P. Anderson Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) which will produce neutrons by bombarding liquid deuterium with a proton beam via the process p + d -» -n + 2p. The work described herein discusses the design and operating characteristics of a prototype unit designed to operate with a heat input of 200 watts.
