“…The dominance of the Hilário Formation in the catchment area Gastal et al (2003), Wildner et al (2002), Babinski et al (1996), Chemale (2000) and Borba et al (2006); (B) samples from northern region and Pedra do Segredo section; shaded fields are based on source rock data presented by Almeida et al (2003), Wildner et al (2002) and Babinski et al (1996). of these basal alluvial deposits is confirmed by the T DM model age (1.24 Ga), very similar to the data obtained on a trachyte clast (1.28 Ga).…”

“…Paleoproterozoic. Possible interpretations account for the activation of source areas located further southwestward, such as in the Paleoproterozoic Taquarembó Domain (Soliani et al, 2000), or a more significant contribution of the recycling of Paleoproterozoic-sourced sedimentary units, such as the Maricá Formation (Borba et al, 2006).…”

“…The Maricá Group is interpreted to be formed as retro-arc foreland basin due collision of the Rio de la Plata and Encantadas microcontinent (Borba et al 2006(Borba et al , 2008. The overlying Bom Jardim Group is resulted from transpressive tectonics and associated volcanism (Paim et al 2000).…”
