“…Some palaeogeographical models suggest that the QB and North Qilian Belt (NQLB) were uplifted along the southern boundary of the SOB and were the main detrital sources (Qiu et al, 2015;Xie, 2016;Yang et al, 2014). Other palaeogeographic models suggest that sedimentary rocks from the NCB were the main detrital sources (Xie & Heller, 2013;Zhang et al, 2022;Zhang, Meng, & Wang, 2020), while few others suggest that the northern margin of the NCB and the Alxa Block were also detrital sources for the SOB during the Middle-Late Triassic (Figure 1a; Zhang, Liu, et al, 2016;Ding et al, 2021). However, this hypothesis for the northern sediment transport system conflicts with known geological facts related to the sedimentary filling of the basin, as the lake centre blocked the supply of detrital material from northern source areas.…”
