Providing a sound theoretical base and appropriate skills at early ages through nutrition education to improve food consumption patterns in Sri Lanka

Abstract: Highlights• Indices on malnutrition in Sri Lanka have not changed considerably over the years.• Currently knowledge gained by students is not applied in daily life.• Giving a solid foundation on basic concepts of nutrition will be effective.• The typical cereal based diet can be made wholesome by dietary diversification.• Means to reorganize nutrition education in school curricula are suggested.
