Natural honey is one of the most significant foods produced and consumed globally, it has pleasing sensory characteristics such a light colour, as well as a recognizable flavor and aroma. In addition, natural honey has been associated with potential biological properties since it contains organic acids, sugars, minerals, enzymes, phenolic, volatile compounds, methylglyoxal, amino acids, and vitamins. All of these features make this viscous substance extremely desirable by consumers for health and wellness purposes and likewise by manufacturing industries for production purposes thus increasing its market value. Since honey plays a vital role in balancing human nutrition being a better alternative to sugar, and further serves as a natural raw material in most industrial products the world over, its socio-economic importance to human development and industrial output cannot be overemphasized. The income generating and job creating capacity of the honey industry has been beneficial both to corporate organizations and various governments of the world. It is therefore the aim of this study to provide information on the quality, composition, health effects and economics of this high value viscous liquid.

One of the most important foods produced and consumed worldwide is natural honey. This substance features nice sensory qualities such as a light hue as well as a familiar scent and flavor. It also contains organic acids, sugars, minerals, enzymes, phenolic and volatile chemicals, methylglyoxal, amino acids, vitamins etcetera which have been linked to potential biological activities. All of these features make this viscous substance extremely desirable by consumers thus raising its market value. Natural honey is however prone to contamination upon improper storage so that its natural quality and authenticity can be jeopardized. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to provide updates to the literature available on the physicochemical, sensory features, content, economic value, medicinal benefits, contamination, originality, and adulteration of natural honey. With this context, we hope to provide data that can help guide future honey study.

Cassava ( Manihot esculenta Crantz) is considered one of the essential tuber crops, serving as a dietary staple food for various populations. This systematic review provides a comprehensive summary of the nutritional and therapeutic properties of cassava, which is an important dietary staple and traditional medicine. The review aims to evaluate and summarize the phytochemical components of cassava and their association with pharmacological activities, traditional uses, and nutritional importance in global food crises. To collect all relevant information, electronic databases; Cochrane Library, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Preprint Platforms were searched for studies on cassava from inception until October 2022. A total of 1582 studies were screened, while only 34 were included in this review. The results of the review indicate that cassava has diverse pharmacological activities, including anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-diarrheal, anti-inflammatory, hypocholesterolemic effects, and wound healing properties. However, more studies that aim to isolate the phytochemicals in cassava extracts and evaluate their pharmacological property are necessary to further validate their medical and nutritional values.
