Proximity effect in a heterostructure of a high- Tc superconductor with a topological insulator from dynamical mean field theory

Abstract: We investigate the proximity effect in a heterostructure of the topological insulator (TI) Bi 2 Se 3 deposited on the HTSC material BSCCO. The latter is described by the one-band Hubbard model and is treated with cluster dynamical mean field theory (CDMFT), the TI layers being included via the CDMFT self-consistency loop. The penetration of superconductivity into the TI depends on the position of the Fermi level with respect to the TI gap. We illustrate the back action of the TI layer on the HTSC layer, in par… Show more

“…This theoretical result is consistent with experiments [8]. Another advantage of the latter method is that it can provide some useful information about the inverse proximity effect, namely, the possible feedback of the 3DTI system to the superconductor layer [24][25][26].…”

“…On the theoretical side, several 3DTI/superconductor coupled systems have been studied [1,[20][21][22][23][24][25][26]. Generally, there are two theoretical methods to study the proximity effect in a heterostructure system.…”

“…in Ref. [20], under the name "simple bath parametrization", and leads to state-of-the-art results [19,20,[34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42]. The band-structure used for our c-DMFT calculations (t, t , t ) = (1, −0.3, 0.2) is the same as in our c-2B model, and holedoping is chosen at p = 0.06; in the pseudogap regime.…”

“…The effective pairing term in a non-superconducting material is induced by the tunneling of the systems. Such microscopic model has indeed been considered in some first order topological system [23][24][25][26][27][28][29]. Some interesting properties emerge due to the mixing of the band structures.…”
