Pruning affects the vegetative balance of the wine grape (Vitis vinifera L.)

Abstract: The cultivation of grapes for the production of wine at altitudes between 2,200 and 2,600 masl started in the department of Boyacá in 1982. Quality wines are produced by the Ain Karim Vineyard in Ricaurte High. It is necessary to have wine grapes that possess suitable organoleptic compounds at harvest in order to guarantee quality grape must that can be converted into wine. For this, it is necessary to have a suitable ratio between the inflows and the outflows and to guarantee production, quality and vegetativ… Show more

“…For this subject; Mostafa et al (2017) emphasized that foliar nutrient application (Fulvic acid +Mg + K) gave the highest significant increase in bud burst and fertility, shoot length, leaf surface area, total chlorophyll content, yield/vine, TSS%, total sugars and total anthocyanin content in berry skin while it gave the lowest decrease in acidity compared with that of control vines. Thanks to the green pruning performed during the vegetation period, the incidence of fungal diseases such as Downy mildew, Powdery mildew and Botrytis cinerea, which develop rapidly in environments with high relative humidity and in shaded areas, decreases and the contact of the applied fungucides to the inner parts of the vine and the clusters becomes easier (Sholberg et al, 2008, Mahrous andShalaby 2009;Austin et al, 2011;Almanza-Merchán et al, 2014;de Bem et al, 2015).…”

“…Today, for the cultivation of high-quality grafting material of grapes, it is generally accepted to use short pruning and to regulate the load of the vines with buds and shoots, which allows using the growth of the bushes to the maximum for harvesting grape stalks (Ursu, 1989). When determining the load of vines with shoots, their growth strength, soil and climatic conditions and the level of agrotechnics of plantings are considered (Perstnev, 2001;Feitosa et al, 2018;Almanza-Merchán et al, 2014). Other authors believe that the load of vines with shoots should be determined by the amount of annual growth of vines for the previous year or by the amount of phytomass of growth of one-year shoots per vine (Chulkov, Mukhortova, 2018;Kumar et al, 2017).…”
