Pseudoalteromonas rhizosphaerae sp. nov., a novel plant growth-promoting bacterium with potential use in phytoremediation

Abstract: Strain RA15T was isolated from the rhizosphere of the halophyte plant Arthrocnemum macrostachyum growing in the Odiel marshes (Huelva, Spain). RA15T cells were Gram stain-negative, non-spore-forming, aerobic rods and formed cream-coloured, opaque, mucoid, viscous, convex, irregular colonies with an undulate margin. Optimal growth conditions were observed on tryptic soy agar (TSA) plates supplemented with 2.5 % NaCl (w/v) at pH 7.0 and… Show more

“…Individual polar lipids were identified by spraying reagents as described Park et al [11]. The predominant ubiquinone detected in strain JBTF-M23 T was Q-8, at a peak area ratio of approximately 91 %, which is consistent with that shown in some species of the genus Pseudoalteromonas [4, 10, 11]. The major fatty acids (>10 % of the total fatty acids in all growth phases) found in strain JBTF-M23 T were summed feature 3 (C 16 : 1 ω 7 c and/or C 16 : 1 ω 6 c ), C 16 : 0 and C 18 : 1 ω 7 c ().…”

“…One complete 16S rRNA gene sequence (1545 bp) from the genome of strain JBTF-M23 T extracted using ContEst16S [18] was compared with the partial 16S rRNA gene sequence obtained from Sanger sequencing, and the two sequences were found to be 100 % similar. The DNA G+C content of strain JBTF-M23 T from genomic sequence data was 41.98 %, a value in the range reported for Pseudoalteromonas species ( [4, 10, 11]). The genomic sequence data of strain JBTF-M23 T had ANI values of 71.3, 76.6 and 76.5 % to those of P.…”
