Abstract: Background Submucosal pseudoinvasion and squamous metaplasia (SM) are incidental and special morphological findings in colorectal adenomas, and both can mimic invasive carcinoma. The coexistence of these two findings further increases the risk of misdiagnosis, posing a great diagnostic challenge to pathologists.
