“…Parental stress at the time of the subjectively highest burden was significantly higher than pre-COVID-19 levels ( M = 36.93, SD = 10.45, range 18–71 vs. pre-COVID-19 M = 34.72, SD = 10.63, range = 18–70; t (1023) = 12.474, p < 0.001); the effect size was small ( d = 0.21). However, parental stress at the time of the subjectively highest burden was not higher than in two reference samples (US sample [ 20 ]: n = 116, M = 37.1, SD = 8.1; German sample [ 30 ]: n = 121, M = 37.18, SD = 7.70) and was significantly lower than in clinical reference samples [ 31 ] (parents in treatment for their child’s behaviour problems: n = 51, M = 43.2, SD = 9.1; parents in inpatient psychiatric treatment: n = 83, M = 41.9, SD = 9.4).…”

“…Obviously, family members need a high capacity to regulate their own emotions to communicate effectively with the affected family member. The relationship between parental psychopathology, parental stress, and insufficient or maladaptive parent–child interaction has been well established [ 19 , 20 ]. It is important to consider the vicious circle of insufficient parent–child interactions, the symptoms of the child and the parent, and the parental sense of being considerably burdened by caring for an adolescent with NSSI.…”

“…Stadelmann, Perren, Kölch, et al. 14 bestätigten dies. In ihrer Studie verglichen sie die Auffälligkeiten von Kindern mit und ohne psychisch erkrankten Elternteil und fanden, dass die Kinder mit psychisch erkranktem Elternteil in allen Problemskalen signifikant höhere Werte aufwiesenals die Normstichprobe.…”
