Psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Flourishing Scale in the Honduran population

Abstract: Studying Flourishing is important to understand wellbeing. The current study aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Flourishing Scale (FS) in the Honduran population. The primary sample consisted of 422 residents of the Central District of Honduras; this included 275 (65.17%) women and 147 men (34.83%). Their average age was 28.18 years (SD = 10.58). Findings from the Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis support a unidimensional factor structure. Th… Show more

“…The Spanish version of the Flourishing Scale (FS) is an 8-item Likert-type scale with a seven-point response system (1= “totally disagree”; 7= “totally agree”); higher summative scores indicate a higher self-reported flourishing ( 49 ). The psychometric properties of the FS (Spanish version) have been previously established as valid and reliable measurements for the Honduran population ( 50 ). Based on data from the current study, the FS achieved an adequate internal consistency with a McDonald’s Ω of 0.90, CI 95% [.88,.91], and a unidimensional structure based on EFA fit indices (RMSEA=0.07, SRMR=.03, TLI=0.97, CFI=0.98).…”

“…Some items included in the FS are: “I am competent and capable in the activities that are important to me,” “I lead a purposeful and meaningful life,” among others. The FS achieved adequate psychometric properties in the Honduran population, including a high internal consistency (McDonald’s ω = 0.89), test–retest reliability, convergent and divergent validity, as well as an unidimensional factor structure ( Landa-Blanco et al, 2023 ).…”
