Abstract: The human phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) is a tumor suppressor. A slight deficiency in PTEN might cause cancer susceptibility and progression. Infection by the liver fluke Clonorchis sinensis could lead to persistent loss of PTEN in cholangiocarcinoma.
