Pugilism in Petticoats: Women and Prize-Fighting in Victorian Britain

Abstract: Prize-fighting culture in the Victorian period was a male-dominated arena. As such, women’s involvement in pugilism – save for their role as spectators – has been largely overlooked by historians.
