That the combination is fortuitous is unlikely, since the association of idiopathic pulmonary haemosiderosis with a myocarditis or myocardial abnormality other than cor pulmonale has been reported in at least nine other subjects in the past (Gellerstedt, 1939;Glanzmann and Walthard, 1941 ;Scheidegger and Dreyfus, 1945;Wigod, 1955;Soergel, 1957;Campbell and Macafee, 1959;Saltzman, West, and Chomet, 1962;Murphy, 1965).
