Abstract:An experimental study was made of 0.2 µsec pulsed electrical breakdown of energetic composite systems containing a polymer binder capable of self-sustained combustion. It is shown that electrical breakdown of samples 2-4 mm thick does not lead to ignition of the entire sample but can cause severe damage to it. The effect of dispersed fillers on the electric strength and fracture of energetic condensed systems in comparison with nonflammable polymer compositions is discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
