“…The occurrence of such pumice layers in Taiwan is already known, however, dated events of pumice enrichment in coastal environments comprise only the last few hundreds of years. Because of the lack of Holocene volcanism in Taiwan and the geochemical analysis of analysed pumice from two sites, Song et al (2004) suggested that the origin of such pumice layers could be the arc volcanism of Luzon and the Philippines. From the source areas, the pumice is then transported by the Kuroshio current to areas in the north, including Taiwan.…”
