Pure exciplex-based white organic light-emitting diodes with imitation daylight emissions

Abstract: Three hole-transporting material (HTM)/electron-transporting material (ETM) combinations are chosen to generate blue, green and red exciplexes, allowing us to design precise device architectures for the fabrication of exciplex-based white OLEDs with daylight-like emissions.

“…Thus, the hole can be directly injected into the EML from the HTL. 42 In contrast, devices A2d and B2d used TCTA as the donor in the EML, generating a barrier between the HTL and EML. In addition to the carrier injection issue, the respective hole mobility of TCTA and TAPC is estimated to be about 3 × 10 −4 cm 2 V −1 s −1 and 1 × 10 −2 cm 2 V −1 s −1 .…”

“…The TCTA:CN-T2T exciplex emission peak was recorded at 539 nm, which red-shifts to the longer wavelengths compared to the fluorescence of TCTA and CN-T2T. In addition, the close fluorescence and phosphorescence of the TCTA:CN-T2T indicates the Δ E ST is extremely small, favoring the RISC from triplet to singlet via environmental heat [ 18 ]. Figure 2 b shows the transient PL decay of the TCTA:CN-T2T sample.…”
