Abstract: Phycobiliproteins (PBPs) are a class of water-soluble pigments with a variety of biological functions that are present in red macroalgae and cyanobacterial species. The crude forms of phycocyanin (C-PC) from the blue green alga Arthrospira platensis and allophycocyanin (APC) from the red macroalga Corallina officinalis were extracted and purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation, anion exchange chromatography, and size exclusion chromatography methods, respectively. The obtained C-PC and APC from A. platensi… Show more

“…The incidence of AKI in patients with HF has been shown to be as high as 27–45%, 44 , 45 , 46 which is substantially higher than the incidence of AKI in hospitalized general patients (3.2–9.6%), 47 showing that HF may increase the incidence of AKI in hospitalized patients. Our systematic review and meta‐analysis involved 37 studies, and we found a pooled incidence of AKI of 33% in patients with HF.…”

“…Although statistical tools were used, such as in the design of experiments, the response surface for purity shows that, unlike the C-PE concentration, its purity is far from presenting results that can be considered optimal. It should be noted that the test results show that adjusting the extraction conditions makes it possible to obtain an extract with a considerable concentration of extracted C-PE and a purity of higher than 0.7 (considered as food-grade) [ 51 , 52 ]. At the same time, it is assumed that the conditions are to bring out as much protein as possible.…”
