“…Our results are comparable to recent year studies which use PVA as a host polymer [29,37]. Table 1 sums up the comparison of Q-switched operation including zinc oxide SA and our previous work based on silicon oxycarbide as a SA [30,37,38]. The comparison to previous studies show that a higher average output power of 4.1 mW is achieved, contributing to the optimized EDFL configuration.…”

“…As no Q-switching mechanism has been reported based on Al 2 H 2 O 6 Si, various other SAs based on Si, Al, and SiO have been used for a comparative study. The measured results demonstrate that the pulse duration of the EDFL subject to BNC-SA is comparable to previously reported SAs [31][32][33][34][35]. However, the repetition rates (103.6 kHz) and average output power (4.6 mW) are higher than other SAs, which indicates the efficacy of bentonite clay in acting as an SA for the generation of pulse operation.…”

“…Micromachines 2024, 15, x 7 of 10 system was well established throughout the experiment, which confirms that BNC-SA is suitable for stable as well as long-term laser operation in ambient conditions. Finally, a comparison of EDFL performance based on Al 2 H 2 O 6 Si with other reported SAs materials such as SiOC [31], Al 2 O 3 [32], Al [33], Si [34], and aluminum zinc oxide [35] is presented in Table 1. As no Q-switching mechanism has been reported based on Al 2 H 2 O 6 Si, various other SAs based on Si, Al, and SiO have been used for a comparative study.…”

“…The short pulse generation is extensively reported at C-band [22][23][24][25], but the reports on S-band modelocked lasers are very limited [26]. Mode-locked pulses are a specific type of laser output where a train of ultrashort pulses is generated at a very high repetition rate.…”
