Qualitative adaptation of child behaviour problem instruments in a developing-country setting

Abstract: A key barrier to epidemiological research on child behaviour problems in developing countries is the lack of culturally relevant, internationally recognized psychometric instruments. “…A cross-sectional, multi-informant, school-based study was conducted in Karachi, a metropolitan city of Pakistan. Data were collected from 11 of 18 neighborhoods (locally called towns) that had branches of Educators Schools-a nationallevel school network offering equal opportunity of coeducation without segregation or gender discrimination (Khan & Avan, 2014), unlike the majority of private or government schools in the country. Educators Schools follow a standardized national curriculum and have the same school-fee structure, affordable to the middle classes, and have inbuilt systems of student scholarships and fee waivers, ensuring socioeconomic diversity among the students.…”
