“…In the present work, a simplified version of the fault tree for an overtemperature scenario (OTS) from the hydrogenation of heavy base oil is considered for demonstration. The details of the process flow diagram, equipment list, specifications, and safety analysis using HAZOP and the Bayesian network for hydrogenation of heavy base oil can be accessed through the literature. Figure is the fault tree of a chemical system having two flexible nodes due to the presence of component variability. The basic events (* X 5 ) and (* X 8 ) are two flexible nodes as they have the provision for interchangeable temperature sensors leading to multiple failure possibilities.…”
