Qualitative and Quantitative Characterization of Monosaccharide Components of Salvia miltiorrhiza, Liguspyragine Hydrochloride, and Glucose Injection

Abstract: Salvia miltiorrhiza, liguspyragine hydrochloride, and glucose injection (SLGI) was made of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge., liguspyragine hydrochloride, glucose, and glycerin. There were many kinds of monosaccharide components in SLGI, which might be from the raw material and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. Separation was performed on a Phenomenex Luna C18 analytical column (250 mm × 4.6 mm i.d., 5 μm, AccuStandard Inc., USA) at 30°C. The mobile phase consisted of two solvents: 0.1 mol/L phosphate-buffered saline (pH 6.7) (… Show more

“…It is believed to tonify and stabilize kidney Qi and has been widely used for urinary incontinence and frequency. Meanwhile, Dan Shen ( Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae ) has been used, according to TCM theory, to invigorate the blood and dispel blood stasis, and there have been a lot of reports on this herb in regard to its characteristic effects against cardiovascular disease, 19 , 20 its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, 21 and its chemosensitization effects. 22 In TCM theory, chronic disease is often blamed for blood stasis, and among the CHMs, Dan Shen was the most commonly used herb for dispelling blood stasis.…”

“…Salivae miltiorrhizae liguspyragine hydrochloride and glucose injection (SGI) is an infusion dosage form consisting of Salvia miltiorrhiza extract and ligustrazine, with main acting substances represented by tanshinol and ligustrazine hydrochloride [ 24 ]. The SGI has been proved with a protective effect on the acute myocardial infarction rat model [ 25 ], and SGI was also reported to significantly improve the neurological deficit score in patients with acute cerebral infarction [ 26 ].…”

“…Based on the previous procedure(Ge et al, 2017;Zhang, Duan, Deng, Nie, & Zang, 2015), the combination of different mobile phase solvents (acetonitrile-water with different modifiers, including phosphoric acid and formic acid) were used. Column temperatures(20, 25 and 30°C), wavelengths (286, 270 and 280 nm) and mobile phase flow rates (1.2, 1.0 and 0.8 mL/min) were examined and compared.…”
