Quality criteria were proposed for measurement properties of health status questionnaires

Abstract: Our criteria make a substantial contribution toward defining explicit quality criteria for measurement properties of health status questionnaires. Our criteria can be used in systematic reviews of health status questionnaires, to detect shortcomings and gaps in knowledge of measurement properties, and to design validation studies. The future challenge will be to refine and complete the criteria and to reach broad consensus, especially on quality criteria for good measurement properties.

“…The interviews were conducted approximately 1–2 weeks after the screening and took 1.5 h on average. Following Terwee et al (2007), we decided that a minimum of 50 interviews should be conducted. We expected a drop-out rate of 20–30% because of experiences in previous studies.…”

“…The methodological quality of the psychometric validation studies was assessed using criteria adopted from the COSMIN checklist19 20, University of Oxford PROMs development criteria and other studies21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28. These criteria were compatible with the US Food and Drug Administration PROMs guidelines ( Table  1).…”
