Background: Sexual issue is one of the aspects of marital satisfaction, Heart failure (HF) due to chronic drug use, depression, and comorbidity affects the sexual function of people. Given the effect of heart failure (HF) patients on their partners, knowledge of the sexual aspects of the partners of HF patients can provide the ground to improve the health and quality of life of the partnerss of HF patients. Therefore, this study investigated the level of sexual satisfaction of the partners of HF patients and the factors affecting it.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 219 partnerss of HF patients. Demographic information, including age, gender, number of children, history of physical diseases, education level of patients and partnerss, occupational status of patients and partnerss, level of support by children, relationship with his family and partner's family, a prior marriage of the patient and partner, the drugs used, and the level of sexual satisfaction of the partner were collected. Larson's sexual satisfaction questionnaire was completed by the partnerss of HF patients. Finally, SPSS-24 was used to analyze the data.
Results: A total of 219 partnerss of HF patients were included in the study. The following factors had a statistically significant relationship with the sexual satisfaction of partners. Moreover, the age of the patient and his partner, duration of marriage, not having children, marriage by personal choice and accompanied by family, good relationship with his family, and his partner’s family.
Conclusions: The significance of this study lies behind the implication of its findings to improve the health of the family and society. In addition, the results of the study can be used in the development and completion of programs such as premarital counseling programs to promote couples' awareness.
