Quality of network economics optimisation using service level agreement modelling

Abstract: This paper analyses the relationships between different service level agreement (SLA) components, that is, the different types of quality metrics employed by infrastructure and service providers. We propose that the quality of network economics (QoNE) be used to evaluate the quality of a network path for a given SLA model. Our evaluation indicates the usefulness of the QoNE metric, and it provides a new mechanism for the networking community to address network design problems when incorporating new challenges,… Show more

“…of 10.16 Pbit/s per fiber [1]. However, although there are amount of services and enough spectrum resource, owing to sequential optical connections set-up without consideration of the delay tolerance of services, many optical connections of services cannot be set up timely, which will cause a service level agreement violation and penalty due to that service requests cannot be handled within the delay tolerance [2]. Meantime, the emergence of a variety of delay sensitive services such as remote medical, financial data and cloud computing results to that the technologies of optical transmission and networking are developing toward timely end-end response and flexible and efficient solutions [3].…”

“…The term SP refers to corporations that supply data and communication services to their customers. SPs may manage networks by themselves, or they may integrate the other SPs services to deliver an entire service to their clients/customers [8] [13] -in this work referred as EUs. The SP can operate in different business forms such as an Internet Service Provider (ISP), a carrier, Application Service Provider (ASP) or an operator.…”
