Quality of reporting of diagnostic accuracy studies on pelvic floor three‐dimensional transperineal ultrasound: a systematic review

Abstract: The overall compliance with reporting guidelines of diagnostic accuracy studies on pelvic floor 3D transperineal ultrasound is relatively good compared with other fields of medicine. However, specific checklist items require more attention when reported. Copyright © 2016 ISUOG. Published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

“…To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study using 3-D transperineal ultrasound to conduct vaginal topography and investigate the change of female sexual function after vaginal laser at the same time. The inter-observer and intra-observer reproducibility of transperineal ultrasound are good in different clinical situation 20 , 21 . The correlation with other image examination regarding vaginal topography, such as MRI, need further study.…”

“…According to a study by a general radiology journal, the Korean Journal of Radiology , many more studies reporting diagnostic accuracy were published compared with those reporting reliability in the same period ( 9 ). Furthermore, in contrast with multiple secondary research studies analyzing the reporting quality of diagnostic test accuracy (DTA) ( 9 10 11 12 13 14 ), similar secondary research studies of reliability analyses are scarce.…”

“…Despite advances in AI technology in other medical areas, the anterior pelvic domain still depends significantly on the expertise and manual skills of healthcare professionals for accurate diagnoses and treatment planning 5 . Due to the number of parameters measured, pelvic floor ultrasound is time‐consuming and not conducive to the growth of young physicians 6 . We need a time‐saving and labor‐saving supplement to help us complete the examination quickly.…”
