Quantification and Analysis of Offensive Situations in Different Formats of Sided Games In Soccer

Abstract: There has been a lot of research that enabled soccer to improve: its technique, tactics and strategy through analysis and training. Nevertheless, players’ need to interact with each other turns any defending or attacking situation into complex solutions with a wide range of variables to be considered, in which the player is never isolated and must make the move that has the most positive impact on play. Fifty-four sided games played in three different formats (5v5, 7v7 and 9v9) and with two age groups (U9 and … Show more

“…Of the articles analyzed, five manipulated the constraints on consecutive days (7,23,30,35,37), five carried out same-day manipulations, with an interval between constraints implementation using an activity/rest ratio of 1:1 (21,22,30,33,42), and the others did not mention how this methodological aspect was organised by investigators (12, 20, 26-29, 34, 36, 38, 39, 41, 44). “…Decrease in the field size dimensions with the same number of players promotes an increase of technical actions [22,34,36,37]. According to Hodgson et al [37], 'the smaller pitch size reduces the active playing area and requires players to make faster decisions and execute skills with higher frequency' (p. 31).…”
