“…In vivo 31 P-MRS measurements of phosphorus-containing metabolites were obtained from the quadriceps muscles using a 3T Achieva MR scanner. 4 Participants were positioned supine in the bore of the scanner with a foam wedge underneath the knee to maintain slight flexion (30°), with thighs and hips secured with straps to minimize displacement during exercise.…”

“…A series of pulse-acquire 31 P-MRS spectra were obtained before, during, and after exercise using a 10-cm 31 P-tuned, flat surface coil (PulseTeq, Surrey, UK) that was secured over the vastus lateralis muscle of the left thigh. 31 P nuclei were excited with 90°adiabatic radio frequency (RF) pulses with an inter-pulse delay time TR = 1.5 s, a four-step phase cycle, and four averages, resulting in a temporal resolution of 6 s. A total of 75 spectra were obtained over the 60 s before, approximately 30 s during, and 360 s after exercise using a 10-cm 31 P-tuned, flat surface coil (PulseTeq, Surrey, UK) secured over the vastus lateralis muscle of the left thigh. The duration of exercise was monitored to achieve between a 33% and 66% reduction in PCr peak height and never exceeded 42 s. Spectra were processed using jMRUI (version 5.2).…”

“…2,3 Computed tomography is widely used to assess body composition. 4,5 Single abdominal slice is commonly selected to measure body distribution instead of CT volume to reduce radiation absorbed by human body. 6,7 Much effort has been made to analyze the longitudinal relationship between changes of body composition and progression of disease or habitus.…”

“…4 In a longitudinal body composition study, single slice CT for each subject reduced unnecessary radiation. [7][8][9] Accurate segmentation of muscle groups on a single slice can aid in understanding thigh components and the effects of aging on muscle. 10 Direct human manual annotation on the single slice CT is labor-intensive and challenging due to similar intensity among different muscle groups in CT. Leveraging publicly available annotation from existing MR resources (source domain) such as MyoSegmentTum for CT (target domain) is a promising direction to overcome the problem of muscle group segmentation.…”
