Quantitative analysis of the sHLA‐G protein in seminal plasma

Abstract: MethodsSoluble HLA-G levels of 106 seminal plasma samples and eight testicular biopsy samples were determined using a commercial sHLA-G Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. BackgroundRecent studies revealed that maternal and embryonic contributions impact on HLA-G protein expression and might contribute to pregnancy success or failure. (Rebmann et al 2010, Rebmann et al. 2014, Tilburgs et al. 2015 The main objective of this study was to examine the paternal levels of the immunoregulatory soluble huma… Show more

“…Schallmoser et al. reported no association of sHLA-G expression with female reproductive outcomes following IVF-ET ( 134 ). More evidence is needed to determine whether maternal circulating sHLA-G expression is a predictor for RIF and whether a combination of maternal-, paternal- and embryo-derived sHLA-G levels have more clinical significance than single detection.…”

“…After semen analysis, all seminal plasma samples were centrifuged at 300 g for 15 min in a conical 15 ml centrifuge tube. Then the supernatant was obtained and stored at −80°C (Schallmoser et al, ).…”

“…Under normal conditions, the expression of HLA-G is restricted, mainly in placental trophoblast cells [ 7 ]. Interestingly, the HLA-G protein has also been found in the male reproductive system and seminal plasma [ 8 , 9 ]. Furthermore, HLA-G expression has been observed in other immune-privileged sites, such as the thymus [ 10 ], cornea [ 11 ], and pancreatic islets [ 12 ].…”
