The correlation function for the proton-phonon coupled system has been obtained b means of the retarded Green's function. The dynamic susceptibility and the internal energ are evaluated in a random phase approximation. Some discussion has been made on t b results by comparison with those obtained previously by others, in which the emphasis ha been laid on the isotope effects. As a result, it is found that the proton-phonon couplin is very large and then responsible for the isotope effects as well as the lattice instabilit; Die Korrelationsfnnktion fur daa gekoppelte Proton-Phonon-System wurde mit Hiife dt retardierkn Greenschen Funktion erhalten. Die dynamische Suszeptibilitjit und die innei Energie werden in der Random-Phase-Niiherung abgeleitet. Die Ergebnisse werden diski tiert und mit denjenigen verglichen, die friiher von anderen erhalten wurden, und i denen insbesondere die Isotopeneffekte beriicksichtigt wurden. A l s Ergebnis wird gezeig da13 die Proton-Phonon-Kopplung sehr stark und folgIich fiir die Isotopeneffekte und c% Gitterinstabilitft verantwortlich ist.

A mixed mode model is proposed for K D P (KH,PO,), which includes explicitely the coupling of the proton to the O-.O vibrations of its hydrogen bond. The Hamiltonian is formulated in the framework of the tunnelling model using delocalized states of single H-bonds as a basis set. The linear transverse coupling term is handled by a canonical transformation in infinite order perturbation theory. Uncoupling the protonic and vibrational motion a Tokunaga-Matsubara type Hamiltonian is obtained with a renormalized tunnelling frequency and a renormalized interaction between different hydrogen bonds, both effects being mass dependent. This mass dependence explains fully the isotope effect of the transition temperature.

Phase transformation properties of finite size ferroelectric thin film with structural transition zones

By considering structural transition zones in the lateral and thickness directions of finite size ferroelectric thin film, phase transformation properties of the thin film are investigated based on a transverse Ising model. The influence of the lateral size of the thin film on the polarization and the Curie temperature has been quantified. Our results indicate that the lateral size of the film plays a crucial role in determining the phase transformation properties for a small size ferroelectric thin film.
