Quasi-dimensional diesel engine model with direct calculation of cylinder temperature and pressure

Abstract: Original scientific paper This paper describes the quasi-dimensional numerical model, implemented in previously developed 0D model. The presented model uses direct solution of equations for cylinder pressure and zone temperatures, without numerical iterations which are customary for these models. In the model there is shown a process of averaging from a set of small fuel spray packages (volumes) into big ones, which is a necessary precondition for the numerical stability. The model uses about fifty submodels. … Show more

“…Of course, the other methods for prediction of engine parameters exist. One such method is quasi-dimensional model [25]. The authors that have used this model are concluding that this model can be very useful and such can be used for future engine development.…”

“…Several authors have proposed improvement of such engines by using various additives in heavy fuel oil [2], by using alternative fuel mixtures with heavy fuel oil [3,4] or by using several water injection techniques [5]. Middle speed and fast speed fourstroke diesel engines are also used in marine propulsion plants, usually for the electricity generator drive or for other plant needs [6].…”

“…Such set of spray packages accompanies each fuel spray, Figure 1. Outside the fuel sprays is a large zone without combustion -ZWC (Hiroyasu et al, 2002;Mrzljak et al, 2017). If injectors have more, mutually different nozzles, separate volumes are created for each of the fuel sprays.…”
