Quasi-static frictional contact analysis free from solutions of linear equations: an approach based on primal-dual algorithm

Abstract: This paper presents a numerical method for quasi-static contact problems with the Coulomb friction. The method is based on the primal-dual algorithm for convex optimization. As a noteworthy feature, this method is free from solutions of linear equations systems; it consists of matrix-vector multiplications, vector additions, and projections of vectors onto the friction cone.
