The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the web-based adaptive e-learning application based on the expert-based assessment. There are two aspects of assessment considered in this study, the first one will evaluate the e-learning system in terms of the learning content and its structure, and the second one will focus on the media aspect. The process of evaluation was started by developing the instruments of evaluation by taking into account some related literature. Then, the content validity of the instruments was checked by scientific experts. After that, the assessment was conducted by two groups of experts in a paper-and-pencil format by marking one out of 4 points Likert scale. The result was then analyzed through some justification approaches and indicated that the adaptive e-learning application was categorized acceptable to use in the learning process.

_____________________________________________________________________The human factors characteristics of the AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter crew stations were assessed. The assessment was based on a survey administered to 43 AH-64D pilots. Results of the assessment indicate that crew workload is manageable during missions and that crews experience lower workload levels, greater situational awareness, and are able to make decisions more quickly in the AH-64D than in the AH-64A. Results also indicate that pilots have not experienced significant problems when using most of the AH-64D crew station controls, displays, and subsystems.iii

Abbreviated Assessment of Three Moving Map Displays for the UH-60 Helicopter

An assessment of three moving map display systems was conducted to support modernization of the UH-60 helicopter. The systems included the Peregrine digital map, Applique V2 computer and Force XXI Battle Command-Brigade and Below (FBCB2) software, and the Primary Selectable Mission Support System (PRISMS2). The assessment was based on subjective ratings by Army pilots regarding the impact of the moving map displays on aircrew workload and situational awareness when these displays are used in the cockpit for pilotage, navigation, and mission tasks. The pilots also assessed the hardware and software usability characteristics of the displays. Results indicate that each system has potential for enhancing situational awareness and minimizing workload for UH-60 pilots. However, significant improvements in the hardware and software interface of the Applique-FBCB2 and Peregrine digital map would need to occur before they would be suitable for use in the UH-60 cockpit. Improvements in the hardware and software interface of the PRISMS2 would enhance its usability in the cockpit. Each of the systems would also need to be fully interoperable with the Aviation Mission Planning System.
