Quinoline‐fused both non‐peripheral and peripheral ZnIIand MgIIphthalocyanines: Anti‐cholinesterase, anti‐α‐glucosidase, DNA nuclease, antioxidant activities, and in silico studies

Abstract: Quinoline-fused Zn II (ZnPc p /ZnPc np ) and Mg II (MgPc p /MgPc np ) phthalocyanines with four 4-methylquinolin-2-ol (1) at non-peripheral or peripheral positions of the phthalocyanine core have been synthesized via cyclotetramerization of phthalonitrile derivatives (CN p /CN np ) in the presence of zinc (II) and magnesium (II) metal ions in this study. After synthesis and characterization processes, anti-cholinesterase, anti-α-glucosidase, DNA nuclease, antioxidant activities, and in silico calculations of b… Show more

“…In Figure 6c, it is seen that the oxygen atom attached to the carboxyl group next to the thiazolidine ring in the molecule makes hydrogen bonds with the ASN 209 protein. In the calculations made, it is expected that the active points of the molecules will interact with MG 1439, MG 1440, GLU 201, ASN 268, ASP 289 and LYS 265 [38] …”

[38] After examining the interactions of molecule with proteins, ADME/T analysis was performed to examine the drug properties of molecule. This analysis is a theoretical calculation to predict the actions and responses of molecule in human metabolism.…”

“…In a different study using again phthalocyanines, Yalazan et al obtained Zn II and Mg II quinoline-fused phthalocyanine (Pc) compounds (ZnPc p /ZnPc np and MgPc p / MgPc np ; p: peripheral, np: non-peripheral) in order to combine interesting therapeutic properties with spectroscopic characteristics. 65 Among them, MgPc np exhibited the highest inhibitory potential against AChE and BuChE with IC 50 values of 25.16 and 30.02 mM, respectively. In silico calculations showed that MgPc np had the highest HOMO value and the lowest DE energy value, demonstrating that it is the most reactive species.…”

“…[10]. Phthalocyanines are second generation photosensitizers and are target molecules that can be used for PDT due to their high wavelength absorption, high triplet quantum yields, and their capacity to effectively generate singlet oxygen [11][12][13]. The most important disadvantages of phthalocyanines are poor solubility and aggregation in common solvents due to ring interactions.…”
