However, resource depletion constitutes a threatening and stressful situation, which is associated with individuals' emotional exhaustion (Lapointe, Vandenberghe, & Panaccio, ), burnout (Halbesleben, ), and turnover (Marchand & Vandenberghe, ; Reina, Rogers, Peterson, Byron, & Hom, ).
