Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of the Model Numbered Heads Together assisted by Media Canva on students' learning outcomes and communication skills in Islamic Education (PAI) learning at the high school level. Through a quasi-experimental method, with a research subject of 396 twelfth-grade students from SMA N 5 Padang in the academic year 2023/2024 during the odd semester. Twelfth-grade MIPA 1 class was designated as the experimental group, while MIPA 2 class was the control group. The results show that the application of Model Numbered Heads Together assisted by Media Canva significantly improves PAI learning outcomes and students' communication skills compared to direct instruction. Statistical analysis indicates a significant difference between the two groups in terms of learning outcomes (t-value = 9.823, t-table = 1.666) and communication skills (t-value = 7.191, t-table = 1.666), as well as a significant influence of students' communication skills on PAI learning outcomes (F-value = 9.647, F-table = 4.139). These findings highlight the importance of innovative teaching approaches and media integration in enhancing the effectiveness of PAI learning at the high school level.
